Marriage Rumours

Yu-Mi is now a 72-year-old woman, and she’s been living in the library for 40 years. She’s seen photos of herself from every year of her life, and she’s currently looking through an encyclopedias for each one. She’s learned a lot about herself since then, and she has a lot to share with the world.

Yu-Mi is reading out the most embarrassing moment in her life, which just happens to be from Na-Ri’s wedding that we ended on last episode. And as Yu-Mi continues to spin her story, we cut back in time 40 years to those moments outside the church. ..

Woong, who had been alone in Ji-Ugi, learns that the man is Yu-Mi’s ex and defends him. He knows she was hurt and plays along, even messaging her in the church about Hawaii. Thanks to Woong, Yu-Mi manages to help dispel the incident. However, there’s a catch: the blowback from the wedding sees Louis questioning Woong at work over the marriage. When Sae-Yi finds out, she’s shocked and more than a little jealous. ..

Yu-Mi and Cell’s marriage is met with mixed reactions. Cell Land, where Reaction Number 1 Cell is banished, and Emotion Cell is locked up, are the only places where the news is not well received. ..

Yu-Mi’s half marathon and Sae-Yi’s attempt to win back Woong are the catalysts for two major events in Yu-Mi’s life - Yu-Mi no longer looking at guys as paper cutouts and her Reconnaissance team going on vacation. ..

That evening, Yu-Mi runs into the new assistant marketing manager, Yoo-Bobby. This guy also happens to be the same one who asked her for directions earlier in the episode. His looks though are obscured through that familiar cutout view from before, but when it’s lifted we soon find out he’s one of the best looking people currently working at Daehan Noodles. The guy has also found her umbrella too, and as Yu-Mi’s defences are lowered, Yu-Mi heads in to get her umbrella back the following day.

As Yu-Mi contemplates whether she really has feelings for her or just wants to be friends, even Woong admits that she’s very cautious over people. However, with Woong preoccupied with work, Yu-Mi finds herself out shopping along. Only, Yoo-Bobby happens to be there. It seems the pair have been running into each other a lot recently, which could become an important fact to remember later on in the season.

Yu-Mi surprises Woong by showing up at his place unannounced after telling him she’s going to sleep. Only, Sae-Yi happens to be in the hallway and she reveals that she’s moved in to the same apartment block – and floor- as Woong. It’s awkward, especially when Sae-Yi and Woong have become so close.

Yu-Mi is crushed when she realizes that Emotion Cell is gone, and she begins to question Woong and Sae-Yi’s relationship. As the episode comes to a close, Yu-Mi has her suspicions confirmed. ..

The Episode Review

Yu-Mi’s Cells continues to be a lovable episode, this time depicting a slightly different side of Cell Land. It would appear that the future flashes we’re receiving could well be a pivotal moment in Yu-Mi’s life, possibly when she’s dying, which would fit with the idea of these Cells learning more about her life.

The show has been a real breath of fresh air in the romcom genre, with plenty of imaginative beats injected thanks to the inclusion of Cell Land and the different cells. This has really been the highlight of the show, with this week’s inclusion of the cutouts working well to show how indifferent one becomes to the opposite sex when you’re in love.

Episode 4 of Yumi’s Cells looks set to be a bit more dramatic with Yu-Mi learning about Sae-Yi living in the same apartment complex as Woong. It’s unclear how this will play out in the upcoming episodes, but it’s sure to cause plenty of drama. ..

This show has just started to deliver another good chapter that leaves a tantalizing cliffhanger for next week’s follow-up.
