Renewed Or Cancelled?
The American Rust murder mystery is a slow burn murder mystery with some similarities to Mare Of Easttown. However, unlike Kate Winslet’s excellent murder mystery, Rust is more of an acquired taste. The murder mystery does ease up for more of a small town drama, with plenty of characters to boot.
What is American Rust about?
Del Harris is the police chief in a small town in southwest Pennsylvania. When one of his fellow officers is killed, an investigation is launched. The novel follows Del and his team as they try to find the killer and bring them to justice.
The story of the police department in this small town is one of many intersecting subplots. Along with the usual issues of unionization, drug addiction, and runaway children, there is a growing problem with crooked officers. ..

Has American Rust been renewed for season 2?
At the time of writing, American Rust has not been renewed for a second season. However, given the open conclusion and numerous unanswered questions, it is possible that the show will be renewed. ..
According to tvseriesfinale, ratings for the show have been pretty steady, topping out at 0.394 mil viewers. Of course, this isn’t counting any international distribution, with the show due to air on Sky Atlantic in the UK on 28th November.

What we know about season 2 so far:
There is still no word on whether Showtime has renewed “Dexter” for a second season, but the ending of the season leaves plenty of possibilities for what’s to come. For example, we could see Dexter’s nemesis, Del Harris, try to stop him from giving evidence in court. We could also see Dexter end up behind bars after his altercation in Pittsburgh. ..
Or it could be that Virgil gets caught up in the arson and gets into trouble with the law.
There are a lot of different ideas and story beats American Rust could explore, but it’s all speculation at this point.
