Jun-hyeong tries to ask his friend, Jang Min-woo, about the first step to getting married. Min-woo tells him to step back and let Na-eun take the lead, but Jun-hyeong, wanting Na-eun to be the happiest bride, plans to take his fair share of responsibility.

Na-eun and Hui-seon have a meeting with their parents to get started on a marriage.

Na-eun and Jun-hyeong meet up later that day, and they’re both focused on their parents’ meeting. Jun-hyeong has found the perfect restaurant to go to, so they set the date for next week.

Na-eun’s mother is overjoyed when Na-eun tells her that she will be attending college. She asks about housing, wedding gifts and dowries, and Na-eun promises to make the first move.

Jun-hyeong brings his mother a bribe of her favorite macaroons and asks her to stay quiet and smile during the meeting. She finds this more than a little insulting. ..

The next day, Na-eun warns Hui-seon to keep the dinner talk away from details like wedding gifts and dowries. Na-eun also frets over Jun-hyeong’s inability to keep his cool under pressure (think back to his proposal mishaps and you’ll get the idea).

Na-eun and Jun-hyeong each take a piece of paper and write down a few things they would like to discuss before the meeting. Na-eun then hands the paper to Jun-hyeong, who reads it before giving it back to Na-eun. Na-eun then hands the paper back to Jun-hyeong, who again reads it before giving it back to Na-eun. If there is any tension or disagreement, Na-eun will then hand the paper back to Jun-hyeong and they will both stop talking until there is a consensus.

The meeting arrives, and it’s more like a chain of very close calls. The mums get on each other’s nerves, and Jun-hyeong misses signs and cues. Thankfully, when an argument almost ensues over which mum will be involved in the wedding planning, Jun-hyeong gives a moving speech that convinces everyone to leave it to the couple themselves.

Na-eun and Jun-hyeong’s mother are both welcoming Na-eun into their family. They are confident that the worst is over and the ball is in their court.

Na-eun’s mother is less confident about the ability of finances to make or break a marriage. Her husband assures her that they must surely have it all figured out.

The Episode Review

Welcome to Wedding Hell delivers a second episode that is even more enjoyable than its first. Na-eun’s practicality balances Jun-hyeong’s naivety in a fun dynamic, though I can’t help but worry that this will be a point of contention for them later. ..

Na-eun’s parents are both very chaotic and lovable. Kim Mi-kyung is a great addition to any drama’s cast, and she continues to shine in this role as Na-eun’s opinionated and cheeky mother. Lim Ha-ryong does a great job as Na-eun’s dad, with his comedic timing and deadpan facial expressions. ..

Na-eun’s parents discuss the couple’s financial sensibilities in the next episode preview. The lovebirds are more clueless than anyone would have guessed, and that’ll definitely make for an entertaining new hurdle. ..
