The first episode of “Hero” introduces us to the titular hero, Hajime Ichinose, who is a high school student with no special skills or abilities. One day, he is challenged to a fight by his childhood friend and rival, Kaito Yuki. Hajime has no idea how to fight and is quickly defeated. Kaito then tells Hajime that he was only challenging him because he’s bored and wants to see if Hajime really is the weakling everyone says he is. Inspired by Kaito’s words, Hajime decides to train hard and become stronger so that one day he can defeat anyone in a single punch. Throughout the series, we see Hajime training hard under the guidance of his mentor and friend, Rin Tohsaka. He learns how to use his powers of observation and deduction to improve his fighting skills as well as how to control his emotions in order to stay calm under pressure. In the end, it is clear that even though Hajime may not have any special abilities or skills himself, he has the heart of a hero which allows him to overcome any obstacle in his way. “Hero” is an excellent anime series that showcases the power of determination and perseverance in the face of adversity. ..
