Redanian Intelligence

Episode 4 of The Witcher Season 2 begins with Geralt continuing to train Ciri. She’s starting to grow more accomplished now, keeping pace with Geralt. His one rule – always listen – is starting to sink in now. Ciri is growing more accomplished and is keeping pace with Geralt, who continues to teach her one rule - always listen. ..

Ciri slips and cuts her cheek open while out in the woods with Triss Merigold. When she picks herself back up, she runs into Geralt who helps patch up her wound. He also brings her back to Kaer Morhen with him. It turns out this was Geralt’s plan all along, to bring Triss in to help guide Ciri. ..

As they make their way through the dark tunnels, Yennefer and Cahir hear strange noises coming from the other side. They soon realize that the sounds are coming from a group of elves being held captive by Redanian forces. The elves are being force-fed potions to keep them in line, but they’re also being kept in close quarters with other prisoners. Yennefer and Cahir quickly realize that they can’t just leave these elves behind, so they come up with a plan to help them escape. They will disguise themselves as guards and sneak away on the boat while the elves are being taken to safety.

The Sandpiper is a man who has been living in the town for years and has never seen the outside world. He is a reluctant elf who is not sure how to get out of town. With the help of Yennefer and Cahir, he finally agrees to help them find a way out.

After another catchy song about the witcher, Yennefer finally makes her presence felt. Jaskier agrees to help out because he worries that freedom for free-folk is slowly being withered away. First the elves, potentially the dwarves next…and then artists. That’s why he’s helping.

That night, Jaskier winds up in trouble when one of the guards recognizes him. After leveling criticism his way in regards to his new song, Jaskier loses his temper and lands himself in deep trouble. The man wants to see his papers, eventually leading to Ba’Lian selflessly sacrificing himself to save the others and allow them to sneak aboard the boat.

King Vizimir of the Northern Kingdoms thinks that retaking Cintra, which was lost to the kingdom a few years ago, would be a good idea. Dijikstra, his advisor, suggests that they form an alliance with the other kingdoms in order to take back Cintra. ..

Meanwhile, Ciri, Tress and Geralt continue their research. They’ve found that two different monsters have stellacite on them- one from a monolith that fell outside of the city gates of Cintra, and the other from when Ciri screamed at the Black Knight approaching. However, they don’t know how to use this power. Ciri has experience with this too, as she was there when the monolith fell outside of the city gates of Cintra. This was when she screamed at him and her powers toppled it.

Geralt promises to try and fix this, and that includes finding experts regarding monoliths. And that inevitably brings him to Istredd via portal.

The Episode Review

Welcome back, Jaskier! Your new song, tinged with cynicism, is the perfect way to welcome our bard back. Of course, this episode also turns its attention toward the larger issues at stake here, including the upcoming fight involving Nilfgaard, who are sure to strike back sooner rather than later. ..

This season, the story has focused on developing the fighting prowess of our characters. This mission is designed to level up our players before the big fight! ..

With Geralt trying to find Ciri’s purpose, and being led straight to Istredd in the process, it’ll be interesting to see what’s in store for our characters next.

The finale of this season left many questions unanswered, but it also left many potential storylines open for the second half of the season.
