Sun Rong wakes up in a cold sweat. She knows that she is the descendant of her own Master, and that she must be dreaming. But when she tries to leave the Underworld, she is told that she must stay because her ancestor, Sun Rong, has come to visit.
Wang Ling’s fortune teller tells him that he will have a lot of trouble in the future. ..
Sun Rong returns to the living after being resurrected by the Gods of the Underworld. Spirit Sword is shocked to see her and asks what she is doing here. Sun Rong tells them she is here to stop the world’s destruction and asks for their help. The Gods of the Underworld agree and send Sun Rong back to Earth.
As they continue through the amusement park, Wang Ling suffers from a feeling of déjà vu. But the guys remind him that they’re there not to think but to have fun.
Sun Rong and her friends, Wang Ling and Zhao Yun, decide to wake up Wang Ling in order to set things right. They learn that Wang Ling has started a new world in which she believes she can get her revenge on the people who wronged her. Sun Rong and her friends must stop Wang Ling from achieving her goals and restoring peace to the world.
Wang Ling is on her way to the Ferris wheel when she suddenly breaks down. She remembers someone important isn’t there and starts to feel memories of that person.
Sun Rong is ready to help Wang Ling by using her Spirit Sword, even as she cautions him. She tells him that for a girl, to love is to destroy the world. ..
After a long period of reflection, Chen Chao finally decides to leave the monastery. He tells his friend, Wang Wei, that he is ready to see the world and meet new people. Wang Wei encourages him to go and says that he is waiting for him. ..
Just as He Bufang emerges as Shadow Faction Leader, a giant hand knocks her several feet into the ground. Chen Chao, who had been pushed out of the Alter of Metal moments earlier, jumps to her aid. ..
That’s our Wang Ling, immediately remedying the situation before things spiral. And it’s School 60 for the win to cheers and shouts all around.
Sun Rong is detained by reporters as she tries to reach Wang Ling to celebrate their moment. Froggy consoles Wang Ling as they remember the past. ..
In that moment, after everything they’d done so far, Sun Rong and Wang Ling still needed to make a choice in order to save the old world. It would mean Sun Rong losing her other-world memories. Sun Rong assures that even if she doesn’t remember them saving each other, her feelings will still bring her back to Wang Ling.
At the Games, Wang Ling’s father arrives with a new talisman. Froggy notes that once his emotions are again sealed it will be tough to have a relationship with Sun Rong. But Wang Ling chooses world peace and receives the talisman.
After the credits, we see a brief glimpse of Wang Ling asking Froggy to rewind to a moment with the Shadow Faction chauffer. We then see a smile from Wang Ling. ..
The Episode Review
The final episode of the series was quite eventful. The world ended and restarted, and our Immortal King faced with making dramatic decisions. We end with that heavy, heavy crown and the excruciating reality of knowing what could have been. Perhaps re-sealing his emotions is for the best, as the frustration and second-guessing would be pretty overwhelming. ..
Our reliable Immortal King gives up his budding feelings for a greater good – world peace. Did you notice those end credits are scenes that haven’t happened in the series? Maybe they signify events from another world with both a Sun Rong and a freed Wang Ling. Or maybe they’re wishes.
Sun Rong was curious about the new world Ferris wheel ride. Chen Chao and Guo Hua seemed to be aware that Sun Rong existed somewhere or at least that something otherworldly was happening. Or were they simply telling him to go to the one who was waiting extemporaneously?
According to recent anime news in China, there is a potential for a second season of the popular Shadow Faction anime. This news comes as a bit of a surprise, as the first season aired in October. It’s possible that this new season will be released sooner rather than later, as there are many things that could happen in between now and then. For example, it’s possible that the showrunners may choose to release another episode early so that more people can watch it before its release date. Additionally, it could be that the showrunners choose to delay the release of the new season until after Japan’s New Year period so that people can enjoy some new content during this time.
When that show is likely to reach outside Asia though is still to be seen. It took Season 1 a year and half from initial release to get to us. Either way, I’ll be waiting for it. Will you?
