Low-Flying Panic Attack

The Winx Club is back for another season and this time they’re going to the forest to have a big party. But when Ivy and Devin go off by themselves, something seems to take over Ivy and she stabs herself in the throat with two daggers. Devin runs away in terror, but he trips right into the path of a strange creature that attacks him. ..

Rosalind is the new head of the Academy and she’s not happy with how unprepared the students are. She reiterates that there are many horrors out there that a person can encounter, and she wants Dowling found. Despite the Solarian Army looking for her, Bloom is convinced that she can do a better job than anyone else. ..

Bloom receives a message about Saul Silva – they’re sending him to the Frozen North, up in Polaris. Bloom isn’t happy and believes it’s the wrong sentence. Andreas is leading the campaign but Bloom wants to do something about it.

Dowling and Bloom are the only people who know how to get to the school. Silva is their only link to Dowling and Bloom deduces the only solution here is to bust him out. The fairies are, surprisingly, all in agreement with this. The closest this caravan will come to the school is about 10km or so.

Terra has warned the caravan that they will have to take a different route because of a fire on the main road. This side road is actually more protected, making it an ideal spot for an ambush. ..

Aisha and Grey are having a heated argument in the pool. Grey ends up teasing Aisha when he steps out from an early morning swim, believing her to be ogling over his ripped abs and body. In reality, she’s not happy that he’s dripping all over her bag. ..

Aisha doesn’t like Grey, so they’re going to get together later this season. Anyway, Aisha gets a message from Grey just before they head out and she’s not happy that her friends have just passed on her number so nonchalantly.

The whole plan goes wrong when Stella is reprimanded by Rosalind. She points out that invisibility magic is forbidden. As a result, Rosalind takes charge. She grabs a strange gem-like contraption and latches it to Stella’s back. This is designed to keep her in school-grounds, and prevents her from turning invisible too.

The other ladies show up at the busted bridge, noticing the purple blood on a leaf. Bloom wanders off alone, noticing the blood, before they improvise in busting Saul out. ..

Without Stella in the gang right now, Terra takes charge and uses her vines to grab the key, before passing it onto their prisoner. Silver manages to get free when the car stops thanks to another behind blowing up, courtesy of Bloom setting light to the gas. Saul scrambles through the woods, but he’s stabbed several times with arrows. He dives into the river below a large chasm, he’s freed from his captors. ..

Although Silva is free, he warns that things at the Academy are about to get a whole lot tougher. Bloom has access to the Royal Archives. Within these halls are ancient texts and powerful relics. She’s planning something big. One thing’s for sure though, whatever she’s planning it began 17 years ago with Silva.

Bloom approaches Rosalind that night and points out that she’s been holding back on her magic. She doesn’t want to hold back anymore, and uses this as a way of getting closer to Rosalind to learn what her plan actually is.

Devin wakes up in a daze, finding himself in the dorms of the school he attended as a child. He can’t remember how he got there, but he’s bleeding and his eyes are bloodshot. He looks around and sees that Rosalind is behind him, holding a knife to his throat. Devin doesn’t know what to do or where to go.

The Episode Review

The third season is where the magic really starts to shine. It introduces a new character, a girl who has been living in the shadows for years and who is finally ready to come out and face her past. The showrunners have also decided to go back to basics with the story, instead of having it constantly revolving around magic and mystery. This season also features some really interesting new plot devices, like a time machine that can be used to travel back in time and explore different parts of history.

Winx Club has been hampered by simple and average writing that hasn’t really advanced since last January when the series debuted. ..

Despite the fact that we still don’t know what the rest of the season has in store for us, it seems like Rosalind is planning something big! ..
