The Game Is Afoot

The first episode of High Seas begins with Eva and Carolina boarding a lavish cruise-liner to Brazil from Argentina. They accidentally hit a young girl named Luisa, who tells them that people are chasing her and trying to kill her. With time against them, the two girls decide to smuggle Luisa on board the cruise-liner via a large trunk. ..

Carolina and Fernando are on a lifeboat with other passengers when they receive a call from someone claiming to be their partner. The caller tells them that they will be coming back soon, and that they will release Carolina if she tells the truth about who was behind the attack. When Carolina refuses to tell them, the caller threatens her fiance with death if she doesn’t talk. They decide to keep her in a separate cabin with their Mum until the attacker is caught.

As the ship departs, Eva’s mother is knocked out by Luisa with a blunt object. Eva is then left alone on the ship with Sebastián and Clara. Eva starts to get to know these people and starts to feel like she doesn’t belong on the ship.

As the girls meet their Uncle Pedro at dinner, blissfully unaware of what’s happened, they toast to Carolina’s late Father before a Jazz Band play them out. Politely declining a glass of champagne and a dance with Sebastián, Eva heads back to check on her Mum. Before she does though, she gets talking to Nicolas, the First Officer on board the ship. As the two begin hitting it off together, a body suddenly falls into the water from above as a female scream fills the air.

As the ship’s officials hurry to stop the vessel and save the lost soul, Eva rushes to find her Sister and Mum. As she reaches the cabin, she breathes a sigh of relief as she sees they’re both okay, although Luisa is nowhere to be seen. Convinced Luisa was pushed, the girls set to work in proving their theory correct, investigating the area where she presumably fell, finding an emblem belonging to a familiar face.

The first episode of High Seas does a great job setting the scene for the mystery to follow. The colorful cast of characters and setting are both well-done, and leave many questions unanswered. However, we don’t have to wait long to get the answers we need as the second episode is already available for streaming. ..
