The Chamber of Judgment

Nandor and Nadja bicker over who should be leading, Colin Robinson joins Laszlo over at Sean’s place while they watch ice hockey. The only trouble is, Colin is a bit of a buzzkill.

Sean quickly realizes that he can’t just leave the game up to Colin and the others, so he takes matters into his own hands. He starts a new business, selling the Guy pillow to people who will take it seriously. But even with this new venture, Sean’s money troubles keep coming. He’s in over his head and has no choice but to get help from someone… someone who knows how to make money in a hurry.

Laszlo does his best to help, taking Sean to a small claims court, given his history of being a lawyer. Laszlo’s methods are archaic though and Sean loses, meaning he owes the plaintiff $12,700. Yeesh! ..

Nandor and Nadja are not happy about this. They want to make sure that Guillermo is not the one who takes the throne, because they know that he would be a bad ruler.

Derek, a vampire hunter from season 2, shows up as a vampire and is sentenced to death for breaking almost every single vampire rule. He even steps into the sunlight, blissfully naïve over what’s happened to him. ..

Guillermo makes a big decision and decides to help Derek “escape” after finding out about Laszlo’s history. He brings up an old made-up statute that claims a prisoner is able to stand trial with a lawyer. And that lawyer? Yep, it’s Laszlo!

Laszlo, flying through the doors, crashes to the ground with Guillermo deciding Derek will be taken under Laszlo’s wing to teach him the right way. As Laszlo collapses on the floor, Derek is freed from his binds and the council hold him to his word. ..

Guillermo continues to free the “hellhound” from its cage, which turns out to be a friendly dog that he starts patting affectionately. The others can only watch on in disbelief as the episode comes to a close. ..

Derek begins selling Sean’s pillows during a mid-credit sequence, using his hypnosis to persuade his unsuspecting customers.

The Episode Review

What We Do In The Shadows continues to be funny while advancing the lore nicely with the return of Derek. Guillermo doing the admirable thing and managing to save his friend, partly thanks to some quick thinking and sharp wit, shows off his humanity in a big way. ..

The latest episode of “Vampire Diaries” delivered another great installment that included a dual storyline involving the court cases. This is a nice way of finding common ground between the vampiric council and our court system. ..

This season’s Shadows has been consistently funny and the show doesn’t look like slowing down any time soon. Roll on the next episode!
