Alex is fleeing her abusive partner, Sean. She’s scared and alone, but she’s determined to get away. She scoops up her daughter Maddy in the middle of the night, sidesteps broken glass shattered on the floor and takes off in her car, away from abusive partner Sean.

Netflix’s new original series “The Crown” is a gripping look at the power of monarchy and how it can be used to manipulate people. While the story may have some contrivances, it’s easy to overlook them with such a profound message.

This show shines a light on the uncomfortable truths about mental health, abuse, and the welfare system. ..

Alex, a victim of abuse, is given a chance to start over when she is hired as a budget maid by Value Maids. Alex has big dreams of becoming a writer but she puts them on hold to take care of her daughter. Sean, the man who abused Alex, still controls her life and threatens her daughter. Alex must survive to achieve her dreams. ..

Alex is a young woman who is trying to find her independence and build a sense of self after being in an abusive relationship for ten episodes. ..

The whole “don’t judge a book by its cover” thing is something that applies to every other character in the show too. The arrogant and obnoxious Regina ends up becoming one of Alex’s most valuable assets going forward. Alex’s Mum, Paula, begins as a rage-inducing waste of space but over the season we learn that she really, she’s an abuse victim too but handled it in a very different way.

The show has a lot of promise, but it can be difficult to keep up with its momentum. The characters are interesting and the setting is unique, but the show can feel like it’s constantly moving forward and then taking two steps back. This can be frustrating to watch, as it makes for an unpredictable and exciting experience.

Despite its flaws, Maid is a difficult series to watch. Each episode is filled with heart-wrenching moments that are sure to leave you feeling raw and frustrated. Despite its flaws, the series is still worth watching.

The compelling performance by Margaret Qualley has kept me going throughout the entire movie.

Qualley is the star of the show here and her portrayal of the anguish and anxiety of being a victim, whilst simultaneously trying to do right by Maddy and keep everything together, feels quite similar to how Brie Larson portrayed her character in Room and Will Smith’s in The Pursuit of Happyness.

Maid has a definitive ending that closes out all the big plot points and leaves no irritating cliffhanger to ponder. Hooray! ..

The maid goes much deeper than its initial story though, examining just how broken the welfare system is, how difficult it is to claw your way out of it, and the cycle that you can easily become trapped in without a bit of luck on your side. Maid portrays all of this but also reinforces the importance of hard work too, which plays a massive part in one’s success. ..

In this episode, Maid tackles the CBRA situation and how many landlords sniff at it. Alex manages to catch a lucky break through sheer persistence and hard work.

Maid is a game that realistically portrays the struggles of being homeless. It’s an interesting and well-made game that I believe many people can relate to. ..

Maid is a gripping drama that touches on real issues that affect many people. With well written characters, an utterly gripping story, and a strong emotional core, this show is easily one of Netflix’s best in 2021 and a must-watch. ..
