The Targaryen dynasty ended with the death of King Joffrey Baratheon in 1485 AD. The Targaryens were a royal family that ruled over a large portion of the continent of Westeros for centuries. They were known for their powerful military and political skills, and their many marriages to powerful lords and ladies.
