He also unveils the truth about Song and how he was undercover, which in turn makes Pil-Do realize that they have the wrong person. He also confirms that Taeju was the one who stabbed him and that Mujin completely deceived her.

Mujin’s guards infiltrated deep into the hospital as Jiwoo was helped out by an undercover nurse. She gave instructions for how to get away, as she singlehandedly fought off three of her colleagues and slipped out wearing a hospital gown. Pil-Do notices her in the parking lot and hurries up to see her. ..

Do Jiwoo and Pil-Do hook up?

Jiwoo and Pil-Do drive to an abandoned beach resort that Donghoon’s friend has rented out long-term. Pil-Do helps patch up Jiwoo, cleaning the wound on her shoulder. Anyway, they decide to stick together and fulfill Donghoon’s wishes of stopping Mujin no matter what.

Donghoon and Jisoo are the main characters in this story. Mujin is a minor character who is consumed by his unfinished business with them. Jiwoo charges through the room, dodging four bullets before reloading. She then leaves a single bullet as she rides the elevator up to the penthouse. It’s either a continuity error or this young woman has just taken a few too many blows to the head! Despite only holding a single bullet in her handgun, she takes out a hallway worth of soldiers, leaving her one on one with Mujin. ..

Jiwoo is alone in the office, confronting her boss with her gun drawn. She’s determined to show Mujin that she’s different, that she can take him down. But even as she talks, she can feel the fear coursing through her. She knows that if she dies here, it’ll be because of Mujin and not because of anything she does.

After a little more talking, the pair eventually decide to get involved in a good old fashioned knife fight. Jiwoo and Mujin duel it out with knives drawn, eventually leading to Jiwoo stabbing her enemy in the throat. She watches with satisfaction as he slumps down against the wall, bleeding out.

Jiwoo stumbles away from the scene of the crime, leaving a trail of blood behind her. With police on their way to Mujin’s base, Jiwoo must escape before she becomes a suspect. ..

The Episode Review

Episode 8 of “K-pop Star” was particularly egregious in terms of its plot contrivances. For example, Jiwoo escaping out the police station was mentioned in previous episodes, but this episode inexplicably makes this happen. This made the climax of the episode feel forced and anticlimactic.

The sudden forced romance between Jiwoo and Seo Joon feels completely out of left field, and throughout the show there has not been any sexual tension or romance between the pair. It feels a bit weird and a forced attempt at making Jiwoo witness another loved one pass away. ..

Questions abound about the death of Captain Cha, the whereabouts of Jiwoo, and why no officers followed up on leads in regards to her. It is also unclear when or how Jiwoo was able to Photoshop herself next to her father’s grave and leave it there. ..

Although Jisoo gets her revenge and Mujin’s threat is thwarted, the abrupt ending just sort of ends things on an unintentional pang of whiplash. Whether this is intentional, baiting for a second season, or not is up for debate but it definitely feels a bit rushed.

Despite some missteps, Name has been a really enjoyable watch. ..
