Cat and Mouse

In the third episode of Money Heist: Korea, we explore Moscow’s history. The Professor has picked up Moscow outside a correctional facility, and he’s all-in on the operation, but on one condition - Denver joins them. ..

Moscow and Denver have been tight since their days on the run together in South Korea. He promises to make his father a lot of money no matter what.

Tokyo is not particularly happy with the outcome here, while Berlin is completely nonchalant to the whole affair. Denver is tasked with “taking care” of the body.

The Berlin team is conflicted over whether their actions are the right cause of action.

Tokyo and Misun head down to the basement after hearing about Denver shooting. Tokyo finds out that Denver shot her in the leg and she played dead to avoid any suspicions. Tokyo warns Denver that if Berlin finds out, it could cause serious problems.

Tokyo agrees to keep this a secret in exchange for organizing a coup to remove Berlin as the head of this group and dispatch Helsinki and Oslo in the process. ..

The Professor’s plan involves the hostages digging a fake tunnel out of the building. The real one is being drilled by Denver in a separate area, intending to throw the police off their scent.

A group of hostages turn on the Mint Director, criticizing him for being selfish and putting others in danger. They promise to make him pay if another hostage is put in danger. ..

Oslo and Denver are fighting in the basement when Helsinki arrives. Misun is trying to hide, but Tokyo comes with a gun and stops him. ..

The police are intensifying their search for a hacker who has been difficult to track. They have some information from CCTV footage and pictures that they believe may help them find him.

Tokyo staged a coup inside the Mint while the Professor attempted to communicate with Woojin, claiming that Mina, her daughter, was in trouble. In reality, she had been picked up by her ex-husband, whom she was currently fighting against for custody of their child. ..

When the Professor bursts into the taskforce tent to let them know, it’s immediately clear that this was orchestrated by the Professor himself. Not only does he figure out who the North Korean captain is in charge, he also notices the files against Rio too. ..

When the Professor returns home, he communicates with Berlin inside and learns about Misun being shot dead (well, shot but still alive anyway!) However, news of Rio’s face being leaked is revealed too. With the whole group spiraling out of control, things are intensified when Moscow learns that Denver shot Misun. If you’ll remember, he was off drilling the real hole they’d be escaping from.

Moscow’s son, Dmitri, is shocked and in disbelief when he learns his father has been arrested for the murder of Misun. Denver follows Dmitri as he makes his way to the police station, intending to surrender himself peacefully and reduce their sentence. However, Denver is quickly tackled to the floor by Dmitri and questioned about what he did in connection with Misun’s death. Dmitri admits he didn’t kill Misun and is sentenced to 5 years in prison.

Woojin and Berlin are both suspects in the murder of Yoona. Woojin realizes that the police could figure this out, so he comes up with a plan to throw them off their scent. ..

Berlin grabs a handful of hostages, intending to use them as leverage to get outside with guns drawn. However, the Mint Director is among those in attendance. Youngmin turns on them all though, preparing to fire. Of course, given they’re all in masks and identical outfits, Tokyo decides they should throw their hands up and make it look like the Mint Director the aggressor. ..

It seems that Woojin gives the greenlight for them to fire on Youngmin.

The Episode Review

The third episode of the Spanish version of Money Heist saw things progressing nicely, changing the story ever-so-slightly to keep the narrative unpredictable. The general plot beats were almost identical to the English version though but this time we got a lot more emphasis on the drama involving Berlin and the other attackers. ..

Tokyo is not the central focus of this season as it was in the Spanish version. Most of the characters take turns reveling in the spotlight, with Berlin still being as charismatic and crazed as he was in the Spanish version. ..

This is a good remake of the show, with enough to whet the appetite for the final 3 episodes.
