The Body Was Dragged

Yu-En arrives at the club and is immediately met with a sense of excitement. He’s never been to this place before, but he knows that it’s where the best things happen. He walks in and is immediately surrounded by people. They all seem to be having a good time, but Yu-En can’t help but feel like he’s not part of it. He looks around and sees that there are no other people of his age there. Suddenly, someone grabs his arm and leads him into an alleyway.

Business is booming at Light, with businessmen and women all working hard to please their clients. Sue arrives to see Yu-En and the others, learning about his birthday. She sorts them out some complimentary drinks but Aiko is not happy. Rose notices this and calls her out for hiding in the back. ..

Aiko introduces herself to her table of students, and they all seem to recognize her as a journalist. Yu-En is the one who seems to be the most chivalrously interested in her.

Just like the incident beforehand, Yu-En winds up drunk outside the club later on, slumped over. Sue arrives and greets him but as they talk, Yu-En leans forward and kisses her. Sue reacts with surprise at first but then she kisses him back. ..

Wen-Cheng is certain that the killer is someone he knows, and they dragged the body so far through the woods because they were looking for him. There are drag marks all over it and it seems like whoever did this is very strong.

A few days after the incident, we see Aiko and Yu-En in Aiko’s apartment. They’re both drunk and Yui-En is still trying to get her story from them. Suddenly, Chiang-Han walks in and they all start arguing. He starts telling them that he knows what’s going on and that he helped set up the situation. Aiko starts to cry and Yu-En tries to calm her down but Chiang-Han is getting angry. He tells them that he doesn’t want any of this, that he just wanted to help out his friends and now they’re all in trouble. Yui-En starts to cry harder and Aiko tries to comfort her but it’s clear she doesn’t believe him. Eventually, Chiang-Han leaves with Yui-En and Aiko is left alone with Yu-En.

Yu-En is remorseful for strangling Aiko and imploring her to keep everything a secret about their illicit relationship. He also begs the young woman to keep silent about the affair between Sue and Chiang-Han. Rose still doesn’t know.

Wu Shao-Chiang is brought back to Zhongsang Police Station where he reluctantly confirms that Rose is his wife. He needs to pay up for damages to a car thanks to an accident but Wu is broke. Adding fuel to the fire, we also learn that he showed up earlier on to see Tzu-Wei (their son). Of course, this entangled drama catches the attention of Wen-Cheng, who contemplates whether there’s more to this story than meets the eye.

Sue and Chiang-Han are having sex, and Rose comes over to show off her new red shoes. The same red shoes, I might add, that the victim in the present was wearing. Anyway, Sue manages to hold her nerve as Chiang-Han skulks out the apartment and leaves the pair in peace.

In the present, Ko shows up to examine the body. As he does, Wen-Cheng and the others find the other red shoe in the woods. What will the coroner say about the victim? We’ll have to wait and see!

The Episode Review

The third episode of “Light the Night” continued to move this illicit affair into the spotlight, squarely moving the show into melodramatic waters. It worked pretty well though in the context of this series, with plenty of interesting characters at the foreground of this one. However, the opening scene did seem to hint that this would be more gritty and hard-hitting akin to “Beyond Evil.” ..

The latest release from the team at Light the Night is an engaging and suspenseful watch. There are a lot of characters in this that could be the victim – or the one responsible for killing them. It’ll be interesting to see how everything comes together, but for now things are left on a tantalizing note for the future.
