A Love Triangle?

In the wake of her kiss with Du-Sik, Hye-Jin reflects on her decision not to pursue a relationship with him. She realizes that she is not ready for a committed relationship and that she does not want to hurt Mi-Seon’s feelings. Hye-Jin takes this opportunity to end their friendship for good.

Hye-Jin tells Du-Sik to stay away and stop prying so much into her business, but instead turns to Chun-Jae for coffee orders. As Du-Sik leaves, he realizes that Hye-Jin remembers what happened that night between them and explains her standoffish behaviour. ..

Hye-Jin does have second thoughts, which are only exemplified later on in the day when Hwa-Jeong comes in for her check-up. Thankfully there’s nothing too wrong with her but she discusses how it was fate that Du-Sik and Hye-Jin ended up together. ..

“Du-Sik came in for his check-up next and immediately asks Hye-Jin about the kiss they shared,” she begins coughing and sputtering, unable to control how taken aback she is. “She begins coughing and sputtering, unable to control how taken aback she is.”

Although she decides to stay as friends, Hye-Jin immediately feels jealous when she notices pictures snapped of Du-Sik and a mystery woman together around town.

Du-Sik continues to comment how his ear is burning (a symptom that someone is talking about you) but is distracted by someone causing a ruckus at Gam-Ri’s place. Sung-Hyun, what a surprise!

With the mix-up cleared, Sung-Hyun gushes over how beautiful Gam-Ri’s house is and how nice the old woman is. Well, this pure soul eventually goes off to stay at the Parang Guesthouse…but his sense of direction is honestly awful and he walks in the wrong direction. ..

Meanwhile, Ju-Ri steals her father’s safe with all the money inside. She immediately heads over to see Hye-Jin, where disaster strikes when Du-Sik appears. ..

Ju-Ri and Hye-Jin stay over for the night, but Chun-Jae continues to send over numerous messages about his daughter. The reason for this is because their past has caused them to have a strong connection.

Ju-Ri’s mother died before he was born, which may account for his intense care and attention to her. Hye-Jin finds common ground with the girl through their conversations, discussing her own past.

Hye-Jin and Chun-Jae are discussing a new girl that Du-Sik has been dating. Hye-Jin is trying to push it away but it’s clear that it’s affecting her.

At the town meeting, Hye-Jin speaks up and lashes out against the gossiping. It immediately puts them all on edge, and even Du-Sik’s encouraging words do no good. It seems the relations between Hye-Jin and Du-Sik are hanging precariously on-edge right now.

The town decides to hold a singing contest to improve things. The whole place is abuzz and with Chief Hong acting as the officer overseeing everything, each of the different contestants get up and begin singing and dancing.

Nam-Suk is a pretty bad person and they end up making children cry. Gam-Ri is a better person and they sing their hearts out. Du-Sik urgently needs Hye-Jin’s help regarding Ju-Ri.

Ju-Ri and Hye-Jin help fix up Ju-Ri, but it’s actually Bo-Ra who steals the limelight. She’s an amazing singer and actually ends up winning the whole contest. Ju-Ri comes second, and off the back of this Hye-Jin agrees to get her braces fixed up. However, the night isn’t over yet.

A K-Pop group DOS performs at the venue and Ju-Ri is in tears after the performance. She tries to catch up with JUNE, one of the members.

Ju-Ri’s father gives her a piggyback ride all the way to the front of the concert to see her idol. Although her legs are injured, he makes sure she gets to see her favorite performer. ..

Ju-Ri decides to use her money to help her father instead, given that JUNE recognized her by the snaggleteeth she has.

As they jump back in time, Hye-Jin’s father greets her outside, throwing his coat around her shoulders and taking her home. Seeing him again brings back memories of a time long ago.

Hye-Jin remembers making a phone call home to her father. It was a nice call, one that was just a friendly catch-up, but one that was immediately cut short by seeing Du-Sik out and about. ..

He admits he doesn’t just befriend anyone, but the pair are distracted by the fireworks from afar. Only, what’s this? Du-Sik slips, Sung-Hyun jumps in to save him… and locks eyes with Hye-Jin. Speaking of love triangles! ..

The Episode Review

This episode is all about the father/daughter vibes and how they are developing. We see Chun-Jae and Ju-Ri spend time together, they have a conversation, and we get to see their relationship grow. This is a great episode that continues the good vibes that we’ve been seeing this season.

Hye-Jin is a big part of what’s happening here, reminiscent of her own memories with her father during this time. It’s a great way to deepen both characters and it works wonders for this show. ..

Despite spending the whole episode intentionally avoiding one another, Du-Sik and Hye-Jin find themselves drawn back in at the end.

After saying that though, we’ve got the makings of a love triangle on the horizon, especially if this ending is anything to go by. Quite how our couple will react to this though remains to be seen. Roll on next week! ..
