Crazy Dog

Episode 1 of Blind begins with a group of kids running through the woods to an abandoned warehouse. They’re concerned about a man called Crazy Dog finding them, who whistles ominously as he walks toward them. However, one of their own - Yoon Jae - falls. While most run away, one of the boys stays and grabs Yoon Jae, holding his hand and trying to stay hidden - and still. ..

The boys are killed one by one, with the remaining children (Yoon-Jae and his saviour) traumatized and forced to lie still under the floorboards, blood dripping on their faces. Unfortunately, Crazy Dog spots them.

Ji-Eun wakes up to find that her hands and feet are bound, as well as her phone. She’s been choked out and the killer has sent her father a message letting him know not to wait up.

The woman, who is known to be a serial killer, has been killing people in the city for the past few years. She’s been caught on camera doing it, and now the police are trying to find out who she is and why she’s doing it.

Detective Ryu Sung-Joon arrives at the scene. He’s wearing a Joker-esque style, and he’s pretending to be the deceased. Apparently this is his usual style, to try and get in the victim’s mindset but it doesn’t quite work. Anyway, I digress.

There’s a sense of unease in the air as Sung-Joon watches the body of the woman he loved being placed carefully on the ground. He can’t help but wonder who did this and why.

The body of Ji-Eun, a 23-year-old woman, is found with no scratches or bruises on her body, but there are signs of bruising and cuts on the inside of her arms and knees. It is believed that the cuts were made with a sharp and narrow blade, like a scalpel. ..

Sung-Joon pins the examiner against the wall and “practices” pretend swipes on her but it’s an unnerving segment and perhaps a hint at what Sung-Joon may be hiding. Is he the killer?

Sung-Joon and Seok-Gu walk around the neighbourhood, looking for any clues about what happened to Ji-Eun. They find a friend of Ji-Eun’s who tells them that she was at a party at a club that night and some lunatic threatened her with a knife. It seems this isn’t the man’s first rodeo either, as Sung-Joon walks in on him trying to force another girl (Yu-Na) to drink and threatening her with a knife.

With the new arrival, u-Na’s guardian, Eun-Ki, arrives to take her home. Now, Eun-Ki is actually Yu-Na’s social worker.

Sung-Joon’s brother, Sung-Hoon, is a judge overseeing all of this. He’s been put under fire to try and clean up Sung-Joon’s mess for beating this crook from the club, who now wants to press charges. Sung-Hoon rings his brother, telling him to head home at 6:30pm for a family meeting. ..

Sung-Joon is the odd one out here. He’s the only one who gets all the attention and how amazing a judge he is. Sung-Joon is spoken to in third person, like he’s not even there. His Mum and Dad don’t seem to care for him as much as they should.

Sung-Hoon’s concerns about his brother’s behaviour stem from his experience as a teen, when he beat up kids in an alley. He was worried that one day Sung-Joon could end up killing someone.

Sung-Joon goes back to the source, Ji-Eun’s dad Moon-Kang, and learns about someone called Mr Jung. He doesn’t divulge any further but Sung-Joon learns that this is linked to a place called Hope Foods. It makes sense that this culprit, the one skilled with a blade, may well have originated from a butcher’s.

Sung-Joon is able to track down the man responsible for the attack on Ji-Eun and he quickly realizes that he is the same person who was caught on camera with a knife up to her face. With the help of the police, Sung-Joon is able to catch this man and bring him to justice.

Sung-Joon, the detective who arrested Man-Chun, is curious about the car that’s been following him. He asks the driver where they’re going and what they’re looking for. The driver doesn’t answer for a while, and Sung-Joon assumes he didn’t hear him. Suddenly, a black car with two shadowy men pulls up next to them. One of the men gets out and starts to question Sung-Joon.

Man-Chun stays silent though, calling Sung-Joon’s bluff and deciding to head to court instead. This would mean a jury trial, which Sung-Hoon decides to approve the request for. ..

On the day of the trial, a lottery is called for the actual candidates to be selected. Jo Eun-Ki is among those chosen. Now, the jury don’t make the final decision here but their verdict is taken into consideration for how the court and judges view this case.

Man-Chun, the defendant in the Ji-Eun abduction case, made a statement in court that threw new light on the case. He admitted to putting a knife to Ji-Eun’s neck but not to abducting her. Apparently, he worked for Ji-Eun’s father, who didn’t pay him over 7 million won owed. This new information could change the course of the trial. ..

Man-Chun just wanted to scare Ji-Eun but her mother has heard enough, making a massive scene and eventually being taken out of court. Man-Chun sneers and claims he can prove he’s not the killer too. According to his statement, that night there was someone else there alongside him, someone in a car which Ji-Eun approached. That person? Sung-Joon. And guess who Ji-Eun’s father was? Crazy Dog! Oh my! According to Man-Chun’s statement, on the night of the murder, he was with another person – someone Ji-Eun had approached that night. This other person was Sung-Joon – Ji-Eun’s father’s old friend and business partner. Crazy Dog is Ji-Eun’s father! ..
