Hope

The episode then moves on to the aftermath of Ahmed’s injury and how his family deals with the news. It’s clear that they are all struggling, but Aneesha manages to keep her spirits high by telling them that she is still hopeful for their future.

It seems that the breakers work, and Ahmed is now conscious and able to walk. They make it to an abandoned diner and settle in, making hamburgers and switching on the breakers.

David and Aneesha are both working at Northview College, which has been turned into an emergency evac center. Aneesha is greeted as Dr. Lockhart, and David is the only other person who’s not a soldier. The college is secure, but there are a lot of soldiers on standby.

There’s definitely chemistry between David and Aneesha, something Ahmed immediately notices. Looks like we’ve got a love triangle on our hands!

Trevante is trying to make his way back to the airfield after it was destroyed by aliens. He finds a local family who break the bad news to him and tell him that the airbase has been destroyed. The locals encourage Trev to join them in Kabul, which is over 200 miles away. ..

Trev and the family discuss the horrors they’ve seen in combat and from the invasion as a whole.

The family is finally able to make it to Kabul Airport, but the airport is completely abandoned. They have hope though, which is given a kick up the backside when a family comes charging past them, scrambling through the deserted terminal to the landing strip outside. There, a single military-controlled aircraft happens to be the runway.

Trev immediately jumps ahead of the line and flashes his credentials, trying to get this family safe passage with him. With panic gripping the soldiers, Trev decides to bargain and hand over his gun in order to sway their opinion. “God watches over you,” The man says appreciatively, as the doors close and the plane prepares to take off. ..

As they drive, they notice that the woman is constantly looking out the window. She seems to be in a lot of pain. They ask her what’s wrong and she tells them she was just invaded by aliens and now she can’t move. Casper and the kids try to help her up but she’s too weak. The kids then realize that they can’t just leave her there like that, so they come up with a plan. They’ll take care of her while Casper goes back to London to get help from the show.

As the kids travel through the city, they all have their own goals in mind. Casper and Monty are trying to work out their differences, while the others are just trying to have fun. But before they can all get back to their own lives, they need to take care of some unfinished business.

Casper and Jamila are the only two people left in the house, so they talk about Casper’s sketches. After all, he seems to have some sort of connection with the aliens. As does Luke I may add, given we saw him suffering from nasty migraines earlier in the season. ..

Jamila is startled by an alien creature that lures her near the fence. She fires a warning shot, but the creature jumps over the fence and runs off into the distance. Casper realizes his mother may be in danger and sets out to head back and check on her.

Yamato quickly establishes herself as the project specialist and starts to manage the satellite station. She is friendly and welcoming to everyone she meets, but is also very efficient in her work. Yoshi is initially impressed with Yamato’s skills, but soon realizes that she is in control and can do whatever she wants.

As soon as Yamato shows the signal to them, the crew sets out in search of its origin in order to send a message back. ..

As Yamato and the gang get to work, they uncover a network of noise that seems like music. Or, as Yoshi says it, a cacophony likened to switching on a million radios at once. Yamato deduces that what they’re listening to is some sort of network, like a sort of hive mind all talking as one.

Yamato is trying to find a signal amid many. To narrow this search down, they suggest using filtering techniques. ..

Yamato uncovers a rogue satellite and tries to isolate the signal away from the others. This is actually the Hoshi-12’s distress signal, as it turns out. ..

Yamato remains determined to track down the signal though, as soldiers show up and immediately stop them. They pull Yamato and the others away from the console just as she’s about to communicate with the ship.

The Episode Review

The Invasion storyline has been largely off-screen, with the focus on the characters and their interactions. This has made for a more interesting show, with more character development and less action.

The official trailer for Invasion of the Body Snatchers feels like a tease, promising more action and excitement than has been delivered so far. The first episode seems to be more about exposition and character development than anything else. It’s clear that the showrunners are trying to build up anticipation but it just doesn’t feel like they are doing a great job.

Last week’s home invasion was a bit of a blip on the radar, but I think it’s exactly what this show needs more of. It’s been going on for too long and it seems like we’re back to old tricks this week.

There’s a lot of walking, talking and nothing going on in this book. It feels like some of the filler chapters in The Waling Dead were just filler, but there’s not much else to build up to.

The only thing that was interesting about this episode was the last few minutes, where we finally got some new information about Invasion. However, the rest of the episode was very forgettable and lacklustre. There was no real development or excitement to it, which made it a very poor episode.
