When These Walls Come Tumbling Down
Viktor’s past begins with a flashback to when he was a child. He was born into a family of witches, and he quickly learned how to use their powers. However, the gasses his family used to breathe were poisonous, and Viktor began to experience health problems as a result.
Viktor is despairing after his prognosis. Heimerdinger shows up, and he reminds the scientist gently that “those who shine brightest often fade fastest.”
Now, Viktor’s flashes have been a crucial part of his research and as he approaches the hex, blood spatters on the table. He reaches out. Now, it seems like the hex is transmuting, as sprouts and roots protrude up from its core. He and Jayce both deduce that if they can harness this power they could well reverse what’s happening to Viktor. But of course, time is of the essence. ..
When Heimerdinger sees the Hexcore, he immediately realizes its danger and urges them to destroy it. He warns that this is dangerous stuff and the magic could well lead them down a dark and treacherous path.
Jinx learns that trouble is brewing with Sevika. After tying her up and tricking the woman, Jinx demands to know what’s going on. And just like that, Sevika opens up and reveals that Vi is back. She also mentions her working with an enforcer too. This inevitably gets under Jinx’s skin. ..
With Vi still alive, Silco turns his attention to Marcus. He points out the mistakes he’s conducted and of course, this is a passive aggressive move on his part to force Marcus’ hand. In other words, if he doesn’t comply and work to track down Vi then his child will meet a horrible fate.
Vi and Caitlyn help a woman in pain. The woman is lower than the Under City and cower at the sign of light, especially if Caitlyn’s flashlight is anything to go by.
Vi is recovering from her injuries, and Caitlyn descends into the dark to trade her rifle for crucial medicine.
Jayce orders the search of the bridges into the city. It’s a big call, one that’s certain to ruffle feathers, but it’s carried out. Jayce goes one step further though, enacting a ruse at the council and getting rid of Heimerdinger. The vote is unanimous.
Vi is recovering from her wounds in the Undercity. She’s surrounded by Silco and his men, and Caitlyn and Vi manage to escape, knocking down a massive wooden structure that distracts them long enough to slip away. Jinx though, lights a blue flare in the distance and stands tall, the ghosts of her past still hanging heavy on her conscience.
Vi and Caitlyn scramble away from the burning building as smoke billows around them. They follow the smoke until they see Jinx, who is lying on the ground injured. ..
As the Firelights come in, Vi is fighting for her life with a gun at her side. She’s surrounded by enemies and she knows it, but she still holds her ground. However, when the Firelights come in she’s surprised and terrified. She sees Caitlyn with her gun and she believes that Vi is trying to take the gemstone from her. Caitlyn starts to shoot at Vi and the bullets start to fly into the air. Vi starts to cry out and then falls to the ground. Caitlyn walks over to her and takes the gemstone from her hand.
In the wake of all this chaos, the Firelights have taken both the Gemstone and Vi. As they disappear from view, Jinx realizes what’s happened and screams to the heavens. ..
The Episode Review
The final three episodes of Arcane are set to be explosive. The Firelights have made their presence known and it looks like they’re going to cause trouble for everyone. The Gemstone is now in their possession, which could prove to be very important in the upcoming fight. ..
The fight between Jayce and Heimerdinger looks like it will be a close one. Heimerdinger has foreseen the dangers that Hexcore can cause and the others are too blinded by their own greed and desires to heed his warning. With Heimerdinger gone from the Council, there is no one left to speak up for Piltover. The fight between Jayce and Heimerdinger looks like it will be a close one, but with either player having a powerful ally at their side, Piltover may just be able to survive.
The finale leaves the door wide open for where the next batch of episodes will go, which promise to be quite the dramatic affair. ..
