Colony

Similarities – Characters

The cancellation of Colony has left many fans of the show feeling disappointed. The premise is interesting and the show has potential, but it’s been largely unexplored. With only a few episodes left, it’s clear that Colony won’t be making a return to TV any time soon.

The show is primarily sci-fi in nature, but it also leans into its character drama. The show expertly balances tension with familial issues, building up to a really dramatic send-off at the end of the series.

The Last Ship

Similarities – Isolation & Outbreak

The Last Ship is a show that takes place on a naval destroyer out at sea. While the crew does dock at various different locations, there’s an intriguing main premise at work here. The show explores the effects of an outbreak that decimates most of the world’s population, but from the confines of a naval destroyer out at sea. This show is surprisingly underrated and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys science fiction or naval stories.

After running for five seasons, the show does seem to run out of steam. However, if you’re looking for a different type of outbreak story, this show may be up your alley. ..

The Walking Dead

Similarities – Outbreak

The Walking Dead franchise continues to produce spin-offs, sequels, and movie adaptations to Robert Kirkman’s original comic book. ..

The Walking Dead is a show that perfectly captures the essence of surviving against the undead. While the later seasons do lose their way, The Walking Dead is undeniably a decent apocalypse choice with (arguably) four great seasons followed by a declining quality to its final 11th season.

The Walking Dead season 5 is now available on Netflix. The fifth and final season of the zombie-apocalyptic series is now available to watch. The show has been a huge hit with viewers and critics alike, and we thought it was time to give our thoughts on the latest episode. In this episode, “The Governor’s Plan,” Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and his team of survivors are forced to fight for their lives against the Governor (David Morrissey) and his army of zombies. The battle is intense but ultimately successful, as Rick leads his team to victory. Overall, The Walking Dead season 5 was an amazing ride and we can’t wait for the next installment which is set to air in October. If you’re looking for a zombie-filled adventure that will keep you entertained from start to finish, then check out Season 5 of The Walking Dead on Netflix today!

The Purge

Similarities – Tension & Every Man For Themselves

The Purge is a series that has been in development hell for years, with many reports of studios not being interested in the idea of a horror-themed TV series. After two seasons, The Purge has finally delivered on its promise and delivered an interesting and scary story that is worthy of the premise. ..

The second season of “The Walking Dead” is a surprisingly gripping affair, revolving around separate groups of people banding together to try and survive Purge night – an event where crime is legal for 24 hours. While the first season does squander its potential, the second manages to build on the successes of the first and create a more compelling story. ..

Better Than Us

Similarities – Androids

Better Than Us is a Russian drama revolving around a family on the brink of splitting up. Although not quite as endearing as BBC’s android-centric Humans, Better Than Us is an interesting show that deserves to be watched. ..

In this futuristic story, robots have become an everyday part of human life. However, a rebel group intend to put a stop to this before robots take over every aspect of our lives. The story follows the struggles of these individuals as they try to fight for their rights against the machines.

Survivors

Similarities – Outbreak & Characters

The virus has killed more than 90% of the world’s population, and those immune must strive to survive and overcome the difficulties of this new world order. The synopsis is undoubtedly similar to To The Lake’s, but this BBC drama has more than enough gas in the tank.

The characters are well written, the pacing nicely balanced and the relatively easy 12 episode run-time (6 episodes a season) makes this an easy show to get into and a difficult one to put down. ..

Kingdom

Similarities – Suspense & Characters

Kingdom is a zombie action-thriller that splits across two seasons. The first season is focused on political drama while the second season focuses on action. The show is beautifully presented and dripping in Asian culture, making it a must-watch for fans of the genre.

Falling Skies

Similarities – Action

Falling Skies is a show about people who live on a planet that’s been hit by an alien attack and the struggles they face as they try to survive. The show has a lot of drama, action and tense segments in it, but it’s also very much a story about the characters. The finale at the end of season 5 is generally considered to be dreadful.

Despite the fact that the show had a decent run, it’s not as good as some of its contemporaries. If you’re looking for something that has a similar up-and-down vibe to To The Lake and characters you can get behind, this one may be worth a shout.

Black Summer

Similarities – Start Of The Outbreak

The show follows the journey of a small group of people as they attempt to survive in a world that has been destroyed by a black summer. The show is interesting because it takes a different approach to the post-apocalyptic genre and does an excellent job of portraying the downfall of humanity.

Despite some strange stylistic choices and questionable character logic, Black Summer is a consistently dangerous season with intelligent, fast zombies and an extremely tense atmosphere gripping most of the episodes.

Black Summer is a season of change for the CW’s Arrow. After five seasons of building up Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) as a hero, the showrunners decided to take a different approach this year. They introduced the idea that Oliver is not the only one who can be a hero, and that there are other people in Starling City who can help protect it. This season, Black Summer, saw the city under siege by members of The League of Assassins. The team-up between Oliver and his former enemy John Diggle (David Ramsey) was essential to stopping them, but it also showed that they have more in common than they thought. In the end, Black Summer proved to be a turning point for both characters, and set up an exciting future for Arrow. ..
