Sword Gai

Similarities – Lore & World-Building

Sword Gai is an anime based on the manga of the same name. The concept and world building are by far the big highlights here, but aside from a couple of characters, most are largely forgettable. The protagonist, Gai, is a likable but flawed character who is easy to root for. However, the show’s other characters are largely forgettable and don’t really add anything to the story.

The action does go some way to disguise this lack of depth, but it does dampen the prospects of this one a bit. ..

Devilman Crybaby

He begins the season by fighting Dracula, but quickly realizes that he can’t do it alone. He enlistes the help of a group of friends, including Gilda, a beautiful woman who is also vampire-free. Together, they fight against Dracula and his hordes of demons.

If you’re looking for a dark and suspenseful read that will keep you on the edge of your seat, then Blood Of Zeus is definitely worth checking out.

Sirius the Jaegar

Sirius The Jaegar is a new Netflix anime series that is set in the world of ancient Greece. Like Blood Of Zeus, the series features a conflict between vampires and humans. However, while Blood Of Zeus is set in Athens, Sirius The Jaegar takes place in Sparta. This difference may seem minor, but it has significant implications for the plot. ..

The conflict in this story is between the vampires and the werewolves over the possession of an artifact that could potentially help them win the war. Yuliy, a young man with mysterious powers, is a key player in this conflict. He holds the key to the artifact and it is up to him whether or not to give it to the vampires.

Yuliy sets out on a dangerous journey to stop the vamps from taking over the world. He has a personal vendetta with his brother, and he wants to resolve this issue before it becomes a global problem. Additionally, Yuliy is determined to save the world from destruction.

The show is well written and definitely worth checking out. It’s all standard anime fare, but the writing is strong and the plot is interesting.

Hercules: The Animated Series

Similarities – Ancient Greece

If you’re looking for a show that takes its cues from the movies, look no further than Hercules: The Animated Series. This series follows the adventures of Hercules as he works to become a hero under the guidance of Phil. There are some familiar faces in this show, including some from the movie. There is also a good amount of drama, making it an enjoyable watch.

The episodic nature of this anime is a bit off-putting at first, but the cast and voice acting make up for it. This is probably the closest you’ll get to an animation that matches Blood Of Zeus’ Greek influences.

Across 12 episodes, this anime is dripping in gorgeous hand-drawn animation and has a refreshing perspective on romance. In terms of mythology and dabbling in the affairs of the Gods, this one is certainly worth checking out. ..

Campione!

Similarities – Ancient Greece & Action

Casmpione is a gripping anime that quickly establishes its characters and plot. While the story may be confusing at first, it soon becomes clear what’s going on and how everything connects. The animation is top-notch, making for an enjoyable watch.

Gogou Kusanagi is a 16-year-old who after defeating the God of War in mortal combat, is bestowed the coveted title of Campione and given the duty of fighting Heretical Gods whenever they appear.

The story is well-paced and entertaining, making it a great read. The characters are well-drawn and the story is nicely paced, making it an enjoyable read.

The Greeks

This docu-mini series is a deep dive into the world of the Greek people and mythology. While it’s not as animation-like as some of the other choices in this list, if you’re itching for more of a factual account of the Greek people, it may be worth giving this one a watch.

The Greeks is a three hour long documentary that dives into every aspect of Greek life, including the Olympic games, art, architecture and more. It’s incredibly educational and manages to keep you invested across its run-time.
